Editing

Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.  ~Author Unknown

Be obscure clearly.  ~E.B. White

Some writers can write perfectly constructed pieces of art easily. I’ve never met any.  Professional writers revise, rework and edit. And all benefit from having a fresh pair of eyes view their work.

After awhile, you just don't see the words on the page (typos et al) anymore and need another person to take a look.

Credentials
During the 1980's and college, I finely honed screenplays and scripts (Hollywood), manuscripts of books, as well as term papers, theses and dissertations. One of my most difficult editorial jobs was for a German firm, where I worked on English translated from German-language (with technical terms) of flow charts and schematics of bombs and other equipment. Once you’ve learned how to work on a computer and turned badly translated German into English, you can deal with just about any other topic. I also worked on a badly translated German book about UFO's.

Then, in the mid-1990s, I co-authored five romantic travel guides.  In 1996, I got a job as Editor of a newspaper, doing the work of three people. I managed to double the size of the newspaper in six months. And did ALL of the copy editing during ludicrous time deadlines while also interviewing movers and shakers, developing stories, writing articles and ads, doing page layout design, supervising sales personnel, an outside service bureau and eventually (press day) the press men who cranked out the paper.  Yes, Virginia, I once did yell "Stop the Presses."

Since the late 1990s, I’ve worked on numerous freelance editing projects, including guidebooks, cookbooks, memoirs, poetry books, and How To non fiction… you name it. My clients have ranged from doctors and health care professionals to an Auto Customer Service professional  My services have ranged from copy editing to manuscript evaluation and development and book promotion.
